The Hip joint is one of the most important joints in the human body as it plays a crucial role in providing stability, support and mobility to the lower body. It is responsible for connecting the femur bone to the pelvis bone, which allows us to stand upright, walk, run and perform other physical activities.
Hip issues can cause significant discomfort, pain and limitations in movement, which can impact an individual's quality of life. There are several reasons why hip problems occur, including injuries, arthrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, fracture, sports injuries and other degenerative diseases. Avascular Necrosis (AVN) of the hip is a very common condition observed in both the old and young population, it is extremely painful and it can severely restrict all hip movements grossly affecting each and every daily activity. The cases of Post-COVID AVN of the hip have increased, primarily due to the administration of steroid injections and medications. Long-term steroid usage is considered the leading cause of AVN of the hip. Early treatment not only helps preserve the natural hip joint but also minimizes pain, reduces disability, and enhances the patient’s ability to carry out daily activities and participate in their desired lifestyle.
